Though some work began as far back as 2012, the company was formed slightly later, in 2018. Work since then has been focused on validating some of their components through the Blue Whale 0.1 sounding rocket launches, and other engineerign demonstrations.
Though Perigee Aerospace has launched several smaller sounding rockets, it has yet to launch Blue Whale 1 on an orbital launch attempt.
